Vadodara, 21st June. Cricketer-turned-politician Yusuf Pathan has approached the Gujarat High Court regarding allegations of encroachment on a Vadodara Municipal Corporation plot adjacent to his residence. Pathan’s lawyer presented arguments before the court on Thursday.

The controversy arose when former Vadodara BJP councillor Vijay Pawar accused Pathan of illegally occupying a plot adjacent to his residence in Vadodara’s Tandlaja area. The plot, identified as “TOWN PLANNING 22 FINAL PLOT 90,” was initially requested by Pathan in 2012 for constructing a stable. Although initially approved by the corporation, the state government later rejected the allocation in 2014.

Pawar alleged that Pathan subsequently built a compound wall and occupied the plot despite the rejection. He urged municipal authorities to reclaim the land.

Responding to the developments, Vadodara Municipal Corporation’s Standing Committee Chairman Sheetal Mistry stated that the matter is now sub judice, awaiting the court’s decision. Meanwhile, councillor Nitin Donga has called for legal action, alleging further improprieties in Pathan’s property declarations.

The Vadodara Municipal Commissioner confirmed issuing notices and indicated ongoing proceedings in the matter, underscoring the legal complexities surrounding the case.
