New Delhi, 21st June: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Saturday led the 11th International Day of Yoga celebrations at the Parliament premises, calling on people—especially the youth—to adopt yoga as a way of life and share its positive impact to inspire others. Hundreds of participants, including MPs, former lawmakers, and Parliament staff, joined him in performing the Common Yoga Protocol.

Describing yoga as a “powerful tool for achieving harmony between body, mind, and soul,” Shri Birla stressed that it is not merely a physical exercise but a holistic lifestyle that fosters strength, serenity, and spiritual energy. He urged individuals to share how yoga has transformed their lives, saying such stories could encourage others to explore its transformative potential.

Highlighting yoga’s global appeal, the Speaker noted that millions across the world were participating in International Yoga Day, reflecting the ancient Indian tradition’s growing international relevance. “People in many countries have adopted yoga into their daily routines for better health, mental peace, and emotional well-being,” he said.

Birla emphasized that scientific studies and global research have validated yoga’s benefits for both physical and mental health. “Yoga improves concentration, work efficiency, and helps manage stress. It builds inner strength and channels energy in a peaceful direction,” he added.

Later in the day, Birla also led a Mass Yoga Abhyas at the Red Fort premises, organized by the Brahma Kumaris, commending the organization for its long-standing contribution to peace and wellness through Raj Yoga and Gyan Yoga. He praised the Brahma Kumaris for not only transforming lives in India but also for spreading the message of peace globally.

“The Brahma Kumaris have helped countless individuals achieve inner peace and find relief from stress and anxiety. Their work reflects the true spirit of yoga,” the Speaker said.
