New Delhi, 21st June. Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said on Tuesday that Former Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha’s name has been proposed as the joint candidate of the opposition parties for the Presidential Poll.
“We (opposition parties) have unanimously decided that Yashwant Sinha will be the common candidate of the Opposition for the Presidential elections,” Ramesh said.

After Pawar, Gopalkrishna Gandhi, and Farooq Abdullah dropped out of the contest, Sinha’s name came up.
The Congress, NCP, TMC, CPI, CPI-M, Samajwadi Party, National Conference, AIMIM, RJD, and AIUDF were among the parties who attended the meeting.
Mallikarjun Kharge and Jairam Ramesh of the Congress, Abhishek Banerjee of the TMC, Tiruchi Siva of the DMK, Sitaram Yechury of the CPI-M, and D Raja of the CPI were among those who attended the meeting.
TRS, BJD, AAP, SAD, and YSRCP, all regarded non-aligned regional parties, were not present in the meeting. Earlier also, these parties declined to attend West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s June 15 meeting.
