World Looking Towards India with New Aspirations: PM Modi

Mumbai, 17th Oct. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday inaugurated the third edition of the Global Maritime India Summit 2023 in Mumbai via video conferencing.

He also unveiled ‘Amrit Kaal Vision 2047’, a blueprint for the Indian maritime blue economy.

The Prime Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for projects worth over Rs 23,000 crores that align with the ‘Amrit Kaal Vision 2047’.

This summit provides an excellent platform for attracting investment in India’s maritime sector.

During his address, the Prime Minister welcomed everyone to the summit and highlighted how the world is currently undergoing a new world order.

He emphasized that India’s economy is strengthening and will soon become one of the top three economies globally.

He also stressed the importance of reliable global supply chains in the post-Covid world.

The Prime Minister mentioned India’s historical contributions to the world through its maritime capabilities.

He discussed the steps taken to strengthen the sector in recent years, including the proposed India-Middle East Europe Economic Corridor.

He highlighted the transformative impact of this corridor on global trade.

The Prime Minister also mentioned various projects such as the Next Generation Mega Port, International Container Trans-shipment port, island development, inland waterways, and multi-modal hub, which will improve logistical efficiency and create jobs.

Prime Minister Modi reiterated the government’s vision of ‘Ports for Prosperity and Ports for Progress’ and the focus on enhancing economic productivity in the logistics sector.

He mentioned the modernization of coastal shipping modes and the growth of inland waterways in India.

The Prime Minister also emphasized India’s potential in the ship-building and repair sector, with the aim of becoming one of the top five ship-building nations.

He highlighted the government’s efforts to make major ports carbon-neutral and create a sustainable Blue Economy.

The Prime Minister invited global players in the maritime sector to invest in India, mentioning the ship leasing services offered by GIFT City in Ahmedabad.

He also highlighted the potential for maritime tourism in India, including the preservation of the Lothal Dockyard and the development of cruise terminals in Mumbai, Visakhapatnam, and Chennai.

In conclusion, the Prime Minister emphasized that India offers a unique combination of development, demography, democracy, and demand.

He invited investors from around the world to join India’s path of development and become part of its journey towards becoming a developed nation by 2047.

Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal was present on the occasion.
