Ladakh’s tableau at the 75th Republic Day parade showcased the inspiring story of women empowerment, jobs, and progress in the region. The float depicted various aspects of Ladakh’s development since becoming a Union territory in February 2019.

The first part of the float showcased girls playing ice hockey in the snow, representing the journey of women empowerment in Ladakh. The Indian Women’s Ice Hockey Team consists entirely of Ladakhi players.

The depiction of homes with solar panels represented the region’s progressive initiatives. The middle part of the float depicted Ladakhi people engaged in different economic activities, such as making apricot jam, sea buckthorn juice, and crafting wooden articles.

This represented Ladakh’s aspirations for the future, with young people working hard and coming up with new ideas.

The last part of the float showcased a high hill in Ladakh, featuring the world’s highest motorable road at Umling-La pass.

It also included solar-powered LED lights, people taking care of goats, and expert pashmina weavers.

This part highlighted the unique and skilled people of Ladakh who take pride in their traditions.

The float emphasized Ladakh’s all-inclusive journey of progress by featuring women from different tribes in the region, including Ladakhi, Balti, Purgi, Sheena, Brokpa, and Changpa.

Ladakh’s tableau at the Republic Day parade celebrated the region’s achievements in women empowerment, job creation, and overall progress.
