WJI Kerala Holds Second Annual Meeting in Guruvayoor, Stresses Journalists’ Welfare and National Interest

Guruvayoor, 1st June: The second annual general meeting of the Working Journalists of India (WJI), Kerala state unit, concluded in Guruvayoor on Saturday, with a strong call for unity, journalistic responsibility in national interest, and a demand for equitable welfare measures for journalists across the state.
The meeting was attended by prominent figures including Swami Harinarayan, M. Ganesh, Prant Prachar Pramukh (RSS), Sanjay Upadhyay, National Working President of WJI, Mullapally Krishnanamudri, BMS State Committee Member, and Bijju Tharayil among others.

M. Ganesh emphasised the importance of journalism that upholds national values and interests. He also paid tribute to Devi Ahilyabai Holkar on her 300th birth anniversary, acknowledging her enduring contribution to Indian heritage and good governance.

Sanjay Upadhyay highlighted the importance of unity and brotherhood among journalists. Stressing on the challenges faced by media professionals, he advocated for their safety, security, and improved quality of life.
The meeting was presided over by Shiju Tharayil. A new state committee was elected, with Santhosh Kumar appointed as President and Ajayakumar as General Secretary, along with 14 other members.

In a strong resolution, the newly formed committee urged the Kerala state government to extend welfare benefits to all working journalists in the state without any discrimination. The WJI also reaffirmed its commitment to advocate for press freedom, professional dignity, and the well-being of journalists at all levels.
