Patna, 16th Nov: Former Union Minister and senior BJP leader RK Singh on Saturday hit back at the party after being suspended on charges of “anti-party activities,” asserting that he had already resigned and demanding clarity on the allegations against him. Singh’s suspension came days after the Bihar Assembly elections, during which he sharply criticised the BJP’s candidate selection and the conduct of NDA allies.
Speaking to the media, Singh said the party had not specified how his remarks amounted to anti-party behaviour. “They asked me for a showcause, and I sent my resignation to party president JP Nadda. I have asked what these anti-party activities are supposed to be,” he said. “If I said that people with criminal backgrounds or those involved in corruption should not get tickets, how does that become an anti-party statement?”

Singh reiterated that his comments were made in the party’s interest and added that fielding tainted candidates damaged the BJP’s credibility. He had previously criticised Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and gangster-turned-politician Anant Singh, arguing that their nominations contradicted the party’s stated principles.
The former minister also stood by his criticism of the Election Commission, blaming the poll body for failing to maintain law and order during the campaign. He cited the killing of Jan Suraaj supporter Dularchand Yadav in Mokama, which he described as “jungle raj” and a “collapse of governance.” Two police officers were suspended following the incident.
In a simultaneous disciplinary move, Bihar BJP suspended MLC Ashok Kumar Agarwal and Katihar Mayor Usha Agarwal for allegedly supporting their son Saurav Agarwal’s VIP candidacy from Katihar, defying party directives. Both have been given a week to respond.
Party insiders say the BJP is enforcing stricter discipline after the elections as it prepares for government formation and organisational restructuring. Singh’s combative reaction, however, has brought deeper ideological discomfort within sections of the state unit into public view, raising questions about whether more voices of dissent could emerge in the weeks ahead.
