Kolkata, 3rd June. Days after West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee reprimanded Purulia district magistrate Rahul Mazumdar over complaints of brick-kiln revenue not reaching the administration, the West Bengal government on Thursday sacked him from the post, and made him Asansol Municipal Corporation’ commissioner.
Rahul Mazumdar, known to be in the good books of CM Banerjee, has also been given the additional charge as the CEO of Asansol Durgapur Development Authority.
Additional district magistrate of Howrah Rajat Nanda replaced him in Purulia district, an order issued by the WB government on Tuesday said.
The West Bengal government, in all, effected 24 transfers.
Additional chief secretary of fisheries, Atri Bhattacharya, has been transferred to the Sundarbans affairs department.
Avanindra Singh has been made the secretary of the fisheries department.
The state government also shifted Hirdyesh Mohan, secretary, personnel and industrial relations, to the housing department. Hirdyesh Mohan replaced Khalil Ahmed.
Khalil Ahmed will continue as the principal secretary of the urban development and municipal affairs department with additional charges as the CEO of the Kolkata Municipal Development Authority.
Tourism secretary Nandini Chakraborty has been shifted to non-conventional and renewable energy sources with Saumitra Mohan being placed in her place, it added.
