West Bengal Chief Secretary Alpan Bandopadhya transferred to Centre

New Delhi, 29th May. The tension between the West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee and the BJP led government in the centre even after the assembly elections continues unabated and glimpse of it was witnessed in the meeting with PM on Friday.

CM Mamata Banerjee arrived half an hour late in a meeting on the Yaas cyclone issue. The central government after the meeting has called Mamata’s close aide and Bengal Chief Secretary Alpan Bandyopadhyay for deputation to the Central government.

West Bengal Chief Secretary Alpan Bandyopadhyay’s term ended on May 31 but the Mamata government had a extended it by three months.

According to an order issued by the Central government, Alpan Bandyopadhyay will now be given a new responsibility at the Centre and he has to report before 10 a.m. on May 31. The Central Government has requested the Bengal Government to release them at the earliest.

Alpan Bandyopadhyay is a 1987 batch IAS officer. He has also served as DM of several districts including Howrah. He was appointed chief secretary of West Bengal after Rajiv Sinha retired in September last year.
