New Delhi, 19th March: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday held a telephonic conversation with Haitham bin Tariq, exchanging advance Eid greetings and discussing the evolving situation in West Asia.

During the interaction, both leaders emphasised the need to prioritise dialogue and diplomacy to ensure de-escalation and restore peace and stability in the region.

The Prime Minister conveyed his best wishes to the people of Oman on the occasion of Eid and described the conversation as productive.

Modi reiterated India’s strong position against any violation of Oman’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He also appreciated Oman’s efforts in facilitating the safe return of thousands of people, including Indian nationals, amid the ongoing regional tensions.

A key focus of the discussion was the security of maritime routes, with both sides underscoring the importance of safe and free navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global energy corridor.

“Had a productive conversation with my brother Sultan Haitham bin Tariq… We agreed on the need to prioritise dialogue and diplomacy,” the Prime Minister said in a post on X.

The conversation reflects continued engagement between India and Oman on regional security and strategic cooperation, particularly in the context of heightened geopolitical tensions in West Asia.
