Varanasi, 25th Jan.
Advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain, who represents the Hindu side in the Gyanvapi-Kashi Vishwanath Temple case, stated that they will study the report of the Archaeological Survey of India once they receive a copy of it.

Jain mentioned that the district court in Varanasi has issued an order accepting petitions from both sides, allowing them to apply for certified copies of the report. The court has directed the ASI to make the scientific report public and share hard copies with both the Hindu and Muslim parties.

Jain clarified that there is no mention of a gag order in the court’s order, and they will apply for certified copies to study them.

The court has required the concerned parties to submit an affidavit to access the report, ensuring transparency and fairness in the ongoing legal proceedings. If necessary, they will file objections in court. In a previous ruling, the Supreme Court allowed Hindu women petitioners to clean the wazukhana area of the Gyanvapi mosque, where an alleged Shivling was found, under the supervision of the district administration.

The Gyanvapi mosque management committee supports the cleaning of the water tank, which has been sealed for nearly two years.

The wazukhana area was sealed in 2022 following the discovery of the structure, claimed to be a Shivling by the Hindu side and a fountain by the Muslim side, during a court-ordered survey of the mosque.
