New Delhi, 24th March: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday asserted that India will stand firmly by its national interests and advocate peace and dialogue amid the ongoing West Asia conflict.
Speaking at the TV9 Network Summit, Modi said that despite global instability, India continues to move forward with “progress, development and trust.” He emphasised that in the past 23 days, India has demonstrated strong crisis management, decision-making ability, and relationship-building capacity.
Addressing questions on global alignments, the Prime Minister said, “People often ask whose side we are on. My answer is—we stand with India, India’s interests, peace and dialogue.”
He highlighted that at a time when the world is divided into multiple blocs, India has built strong partnerships across regions—from the Gulf to Western nations and the Global South—emerging as a trusted global partner.
Modi also underlined India’s efforts to ensure stability amid disruptions in global supply chains, particularly in essential sectors such as energy, fertilisers, and critical goods.
Turning to domestic politics, the Prime Minister criticised the Congress over the issuance of oil bonds during the UPA era, alleging that the move burdened future generations. He said the government has had to repay more than ₹3 lakh crore, including interest, against bonds worth ₹1.48 lakh crore.
He accused opposition parties of attempting to exploit global crises for political gain, while asserting that India has continued to navigate challenges—from the pandemic to geopolitical tensions—through collective national effort.
“Even in times of war-like conditions globally, India’s strength and strategy are being recognised,” Modi said, adding that resilience and diversification have helped the country manage external shocks effectively.
The Prime Minister reiterated that India’s approach remains rooted in peace, stability, and safeguarding national interests amid evolving global challenges.
