Lucknow, 25th Dec: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday inaugurated the Rashtra Prerna Sthal in Lucknow, a memorial dedicated to the life and ideals of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, calling it a symbol of India’s journey towards self-respect, unity and service.

Addressing the gathering on Vajpayee’s 101st birth anniversary, Modi said the newly inaugurated site reflects a vision that inspires collective effort, asserting that “Sabka Prayas will realise the resolve of a Viksit Bharat.”

The Prime Minister extended Christmas greetings to the nation and recalled that December 25 marks the birth anniversaries of Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Mahamana Madan Mohan Malaviya and Maharaja Bijli Pasi, describing them as stalwarts who strengthened India’s identity, unity and pride.

He said the land on which the Rashtra Prerna Sthal stands had earlier been a massive dumping site spread across more than 30 acres and was transformed into a modern inspiration centre over the last three years.

Highlighting the statues of Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay and Atal Bihari Vajpayee at the complex, Modi said their ideals continue to guide India’s development path. He recalled the abrogation of Article 370, industrial self-reliance, the One District One Product campaign and the defence corridor in Uttar Pradesh, noting that BrahMos missiles are now being manufactured in Lucknow.

Modi underlined that Antyodaya has been given a new dimension of saturation, ensuring that every eligible beneficiary is covered under welfare schemes. He said crores of people have been lifted out of poverty in the past decade, while social security coverage has expanded from about 25 crore people before 2014 to nearly 95 crore today.

The Prime Minister also recalled Vajpayee’s contribution to good governance, telecom reforms, Aadhaar’s foundations, rural roads, the Golden Quadrilateral highway project and the Delhi Metro, stating that these initiatives laid the base for India’s modern infrastructure push.

He said Uttar Pradesh is rapidly emerging as a development hub, gaining global recognition through expressways, manufacturing and tourism centres such as Ayodhya and Kashi Vishwanath Dham, with the Rashtra Prerna Sthal adding to the state’s new identity.

Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Ministers Rajnath Singh and Pankaj Chaudhary were among those present at the event.
