Wayanad, 25th Oct. BJP candidate Navya Haridas filed her nomination on Friday for the upcoming Lok Sabha by-election in Wayanad, Kerala, accompanied by several party leaders. The Wayanad constituency, previously represented by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, is now contested by Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
Haridas alleged that the heavy turnout at her roadshow was orchestrated under the pretext of promoting tourism, claiming that people were brought in for a “shooting or sightseeing” experience. She described Priyanka’s arrival and roadshow as a “seasonal festival” that occurs just once a year, suggesting that the public would soon see through the façade.
While filing her nomination, Haridas critiqued Priyanka Gandhi, asserting that her candidacy is primarily based on her prominent political family background. In contrast, Haridas emphasized her own years of experience working directly with the community, stating, “If family legacy is the yardstick for greatness, then only she can make that claim.”
She further clarified that the BJP does not possess such a criterion and stated, “I do not claim to have any such influence.”
The Wayanad by-election is set to be a closely watched contest, especially given the high-profile candidates involved.
