Water Management Conference Calls for Urgent Action Towards Sustainable and Resilient Viksit Bharat

New Delhi, 16th March: A high-level conference on “Water Management – The Pivot of Sustainable & Resilient Viksit Bharat” was held at the Constitution Club of India on March 16, bringing together policymakers, domain experts, media personalities, and key stakeholders to deliberate on India’s water challenges and solutions.

Organised by Samagra Vikas Nyas, (A global organisation for Humanity , Peace & Prosperity) the conference focused on strengthening water conservation and governance in alignment with national initiatives like the Jal Jeevan Mission.
The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and the National Anthem.
Delivering the introductory address, Dr Kumar Rakesh, Hony.Pro Vice Chancellor, Panchgavya Vidyapeetham Gurukul University, Kanchipuram ,Tamilnadu emphasised the critical importance of water in daily life and long-term sustainability. He stated that water management must begin at the household level and extend to agriculture. “From home to farmland, water is the foundation of life and sustainability,” he said. He added that awareness, responsible usage, and policy support must work together to ensure water security for future generations.Dr Rakesh also shared his thoughts about water management & Panchgavya for this global village.
Dr Rakesh also introduced the distinguished guests, highlighting their contributions. He described Dr Raj Bhushan Choudhary, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti, as a key policymaker driving national water initiatives; Bhubaneswar Kalita, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Chairperson of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Science & Technology, Environment, Forests and Climate Change, as a leading voice in environmental governance; and Ajay Bhatt, Senior MP and former Union Minister of State for Defence and Tourism, as a strong advocate of sustainable development.
Chief Guest Dr Raj Bhushan Choudhary, Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti, delivered a forward-looking address. “Water management is not just a necessity but a cornerstone of sustainable development,” he said. “We must adopt integrated strategies to address emerging environmental challenges.” He further stressed that community participation and policy synergy are essential to achieving long-term water security.Dr Chaudhary as a chair of this conference shows his dedication about water management & viksit bharat spending more than two hrs in this program .He listened all speakers then made his remarkable notes for this most genuine issues of Bharat & other parts of the world .
Shri Bhubaneswar Kalita, Rajya Sabha MP and Chairperson of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Science & Technology, Environment, Forests and Climate Change, highlighted the importance of institutional strength. “Robust policy frameworks and effective governance mechanisms are crucial,” he said. “Sustainable water management requires continuous policy innovation and scientific planning.”
Shri Ajay Bhatt, Senior Member of Parliament and former Union Minister of State for Defence and Tourism, emphasised the need to integrate traditional knowledge with modern innovation. “India’s traditional water conservation systems offer valuable lessons,” he said. “Combining them with new technologies can provide scalable and sustainable solutions.”Shri Bhatt highlighted the importance of this type of conference /seminar.He said this type of seminars should be organised at his hilly states like Uttarakhand for water management & proper conservation for the public of state & country.
The keynote address was delivered by Rajesh Kumar Pandey, eminent expert on water conservation, management, and policies. He provided a comprehensive analysis of India’s water scenario, stating, “India faces a dual challenge of water scarcity and mismanagement.” He added, “Global comparisons show that policy execution and community involvement are key to success.”
The conference also witnessed insightful contributions from distinguished experts including Dr Uttam Sinha,strategic affairs and water policy expert & Sr Fellow at MP IDSA , Chittaranjan Kumar Khaitan, IAS (R) & Former ACS shared sad stories of deaths in Indore incident due to water mismanagement.He suggested to change in water policies for the benefit of this general public.Dr Uttam Ojha, environmental expert & UP State Coordinator of BJP and Madhavi Agarwal, West Bengal State Spokesperson-BJP & social activist said water conservation & management are need of the hour .All discussions enriched the dialogue on innovation, governance, and sustainable practices in the water sector.
The session was seamlessly anchored by Dr Neerja Chaturvedi, who ensured a smooth and engaging flow of the programme.
The conference concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Poonam Sharma, Director of Samagra Vikas Nyas. She expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, speakers, and participants. “Water conservation is a collective responsibility, and platforms like this help translate ideas into impactful action,” she said. She added that continued dialogue and collaboration are essential to achieving sustainable development goals.
