New Delhi, 27th Nov: Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan was briefed today on the major initiatives and achievements of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises during a meeting with Union MSME Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, Minister of State Sushri Shobha Karandlaje, and senior officials at Parliament House.
The Ministry outlined the emergence of the MSME sector as one of the most vibrant and dynamic pillars of India’s economy, underscoring its contribution to economic growth, employment generation, entrepreneurship, and environmental sustainability. Officials highlighted the Ministry’s drive toward formalisation through the Udyam Registration Portal, which is helping enterprises establish identity and easing business processes.
Presenting a detailed overview, the Ministry showcased its major initiatives supporting Khadi, Village and Coir industries, with focus areas including credit support, technological upgrades, infrastructure development, skill training, improved competitiveness, and market access.
The Vice-President was briefed on flagship schemes such as PM Vishwakarma, the Credit Guarantee Scheme, the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), the Micro and Small Enterprises Cluster Development Programme (MSE-CDP), the Public Procurement Policy for MSMEs, and targeted measures to uplift women and SC/ST entrepreneurs. The Ministry also shared its plans aligned with the national vision of Viksit Bharat.
Appreciating the Ministry’s efforts, the Vice-President welcomed the growing budgetary support for MSMEs and rising credit flow to entrepreneurs. He commended the impact of PM Vishwakarma and other schemes in delivering benefits across the country.
Highlighting MSMEs as the second-largest employment generator in India, the Vice-President said the sector holds vast untapped potential and must be continuously strengthened through focused interventions such as infrastructure creation, skill development, and establishment of training institutes in economically backward regions.
