VP Radhakrishnan Receives Grand Welcome in Tamil Nadu

Coimbatore, 28th Oct: The Vice-President of India, C.P. Radhakrishnan, received a grand welcome on his maiden visit to Tamil Nadu from October 28–30, 2025, following his return from an official visit to the Republic of Seychelles. He was warmly received by residents at the Coimbatore International Airport on arrival.

Addressing a felicitation ceremony organized by the Coimbatore Citizen Forum at CODISSIA, the Vice-President expressed gratitude for the people’s affection and emphasized the importance of service, integrity, and nation-building. He called for collective efforts from all sections of society to realize the vision of Viksit Bharat, highlighting Tamil Nadu’s vital role in India’s development journey.

Recalling his deep connection with Coimbatore, Radhakrishnan praised the city’s industrious and enterprising people for their contribution to India’s progress. He underlined the need to ensure workers’ welfare for industrial growth and noted that agriculture and manufacturing must progress in tandem for a strong economy. Quoting Mahakavi Subramania Bharathi, he said the expansion of industries and commerce was essential for a prosperous Bharat.

Later, the Vice-President paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at the Town Hall Corporation Building and attended the centenary celebrations of Shanthalinga Ramasamy Adigalar at Perur Mutt, Coimbatore. He lauded Adigalar’s contributions to promoting education, spirituality, and social harmony.

In the evening, Radhakrishnan visited his hometown Tiruppur, where he paid floral tributes at the statues of Tiruppur Kumaran and Mahatma Gandhi. On October 29, he will attend a felicitation programme in Tiruppur and later visit Madurai to offer prayers at the Meenakshi Amman Temple. His tour will conclude on October 30 with participation in the Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar Jayanthi programme at Pasumpon, Ramanathapuram district.
