Gurugram, 7th Dec: Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan on Sunday launched the Silver Jubilee Year of the Brahma Kumaris’ Om Shanti Retreat Centre (OSRC) in Gurugram.
Addressing the gathering, he expressed happiness at joining the Centre’s 25th-year celebrations and noted that professionals from diverse fields — including scientists, doctors, administrators and public representatives — are drawn to its message of peace and meditation. He praised the Brahma Kumaris for emerging as the world’s largest women-led spiritual organisation.
The Vice-President highlighted India’s civilisational legacy rooted in spirituality and the meditative practices of sages, rishis and munis. He said traditions such as Rajyoga and Vipassana underscore that clarity and strength emerge from within. Meditation, he added, is an essential life skill for emotional balance in today’s fast-paced world and a key pillar for achieving Viksit Bharat@2047.
Radhakrishnan also commended the Centre’s strong commitment to environmental sustainability, aligning with Mission LiFE — an initiative encouraging pro-planet lifestyles. He lauded green efforts such as the 1 MW hybrid solar plant, rainwater harvesting systems, biogas and sewage treatment units, green kitchens, free sapling nurseries and large-scale tree plantation under the Kalp Taru project.
He appreciated the Brahma Kumaris’ role in the ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan’ and other social initiatives promoting dignity for senior citizens and the practice of Karmayoga. Referring to President Droupadi Murmu’s recent inauguration of the annual campaign “Rajyoga Meditation for World Unity and Trust” in Lucknow, he said the Silver Jubilee Year would open new avenues of service and wider outreach.
Haryana Minister Rao Narbir Singh and senior members of the Brahma Kumaris were present at the event.
