VP Radhakrishnan Lauds India’s Rise in Global Innovation

Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh calls on Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan, briefs India’s Scientific and Technological Advancements

New Delhi, 23rd Oct: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology and Earth Sciences, Dr. Jitendra Singh, along with senior officials, called on Vice-President Shri C.P. Radhakrishnan at Parliament House on Thursday to brief him on India’s key scientific and technological advancements.

During the meeting, Dr. Singh presented an overview of major initiatives in scientific research, innovation, biotechnology, quantum computing, cyber-security, meteorological services, and disaster risk mitigation.

Vice-President Radhakrishnan commended the ministries for strengthening India’s innovation-driven ecosystem and advancing frontier technologies. He praised the country’s remarkable climb in the Global Innovation Index—from 81st position in 2015 to 38th in 2025—and highlighted the surge in patents, publications, and technology-led growth.

Applauding India’s achievements in vaccine development, BharatGenAI large language model, and quantum computing, he stressed the need to uphold ethical standards in biotechnology, foster youth participation in research, and deepen collaboration with industry.

The Vice-President also underscored the progress in weather forecasting, ocean studies, and the blue economy, calling for sustained global partnerships to ensure India’s leadership in science and innovation.
