Varanasi, 31st Oct: Vice-President of India C.P. Radhakrishnan on Friday inaugurated the newly built Sri Kasi Nattukkottai Nagara Satram at Sigra, Varanasi, marking a new chapter in the enduring spiritual bond between Tamil Nadu and Kashi. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath joined the ceremony and welcomed the Vice-President at the Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport.

Addressing the gathering, the Vice-President hailed the Nagarathar community for their service-oriented vision and lauded their role in reinforcing Tamil–Kashi cultural and spiritual unity. He praised the construction of the 10-storey Satram—built at a cost of ₹60 crore entirely through community donations—as a testament to faith, resilience, and devotion.

Recalling his earlier visits to the holy city, Shri Radhakrishnan said Kashi has undergone a remarkable transformation in the past 25 years, attributing the change to the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

He emphasized that “Dharma always triumphs,” citing how the land for the Satram was once encroached upon but was later recovered through government efforts. The Vice-President also hailed the government’s success in bringing back the stolen idol of Goddess Annapurani Amman Devi from Canada in 2021, calling it a historic act of cultural justice.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, in his address, highlighted India’s “unity in diversity,” remarking that while languages may differ, the nation’s spiritual essence remains one. He underscored the deep link between the Jyotirlingas of Rameshwaram and Kashi, reflecting the unity of southern and northern India.

After the ceremony, the Vice-President offered prayers at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple and the Annapurani Amman Devi Mandir within the temple complex, praying for peace and prosperity for all.

The Sri Kasi Nattukkottai Nagara Satram, now in its second facility in Varanasi, provides accommodation to visiting devotees and serves as a living symbol of the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat spirit—bridging South and North India through shared faith and heritage.
