VP Radhakrishnan Briefed on MoSPI and NITI Aayog Initiatives

New Delhi, 21st Nov: Vice-President of India C. P. Radhakrishnan was briefed on the latest initiatives of the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) and NITI Aayog during a meeting held at Parliament House on Friday.

The delegation included Rao Inderjit Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Statistics and Programme Implementation and Planning, along with NITI Aayog CEO B. V. R. Subrahmanyam, MoSPI Secretary Dr Saurabh Garg and senior officials.

The Vice-President was presented with an overview of NITI Aayog’s key initiatives and upcoming plans, including the Vision and Strategic Roadmap for achieving Viksit Bharat@2047. He appreciated NITI Aayog’s active engagement with Central Ministries and State Governments in strengthening policy design and implementation across diverse sectors, while also lauding flagship interventions like the Aspirational Districts Programme.

Officials further briefed the Vice-President on the structure and role of the National Statistical System, covering processes of data collection, compilation and dissemination of major national indicators including GDP, CPI and IIP.

Radhakrishnan commended MoSPI for maintaining high standards in generating reliable official statistics. Emphasizing the role of accurate and timely data in national development, he highlighted the need for strategic planning and evidence-based governance to fulfil India’s aspirations for becoming a developed nation by 2047.
