VP Dhankhar Lauds Assam’s Rich Heritage and Remarkable Achievements at Civilian Awards Ceremony

 In a ceremony brimming with cultural fervor and profound acknowledgment, the Vice-President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar graced the Conferment of the Assam Civilian Awards in Guwahati.

Expressing gratitude to the Chief Minister and former Chief Justice of India for their accommodation amidst a busy parliamentary session, the Vice-President articulated deep appreciation for the honor bestowed upon him.

The Vice-President commended the transformational change in the conferment of awards, from mere patronage to genuine recognition of merit, akin to the recent shift in the Padma Awards towards the “People’s Padma.” He particularly hailed the conferment of the Assam Baibhav award on former Chief Justice of India, Justice Ranjan Gogoi, acknowledging his unparalleled contributions to the legal landscape and legislative realm of the nation.

In the realm of sports, the Vice-President celebrated the achievements of young athlete Hima Das, recipient of the Assam Saurav award, whose journey from the rice fields of Assam to the international sporting arena embodies the spirit of perseverance and determination.

Concluding his speech, the Vice-President envisioned a developed Bharat by 2047, citing the recent display of women’s empowerment on the 75th Republic Day as a testament to the country’s remarkable progress and transformation.
