Rairangpur, 4th Feb: The President of India Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday said that the goal of building a Viksit Bharat by 2047 can be achieved only through the collective efforts of the government and citizens, as she inaugurated and laid foundation stones for multiple developmental projects at Rairangpur in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district.

Addressing a public gathering, President Murmu underlined that the Government of India’s Purvodaya vision places special emphasis on the development of eastern India, with Odisha emerging as a key focus area. She expressed confidence that the projects launched in Rairangpur would significantly benefit the region and create new employment opportunities.

The President inaugurated the Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo University Information Technology Campus and laid foundation stones for an AYUSH Hospital-cum-Ayurvedic College, Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology campus, an Archery Centre, city beautification and drainage upgradation works, an auditorium and cultural centre, a girls’ hostel and a deaddiction centre.

Highlighting the government’s commitment to tribal welfare, President Murmu said special efforts are being made to ensure economic and social development of tribal communities. She cited initiatives such as providing Minimum Support Price for over 90 minor forest produce items under the Pradhan Mantri Van Dhan Yojana, micro-credit support to tribal self-help groups, and low-interest loans to Scheduled Tribe women under the Tribal Women Empowerment Scheme.

She also referred to improvements in health, education and connectivity in tribal-dominated areas, noting that the Pradhan Mantri-JANMAN Yojana has been rolled out for the welfare of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups. Electrification and 4G internet connectivity, she said, have reached even remote tribal regions, enabling holistic development.

Stressing that the upliftment of the poorest sections is integral to national progress, the President urged people to actively benefit from government welfare schemes and spread awareness about them. She said local development leads to state development, which in turn strengthens the nation.

Reiterating her confidence, President Murmu said institutions of education, healthcare and community infrastructure inaugurated at Rairangpur would play a transformative role in shaping the future of the region and contribute meaningfully to India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation by 2047.
