Varanasi, 19th July:
As dusk settled over the Ganges in Varanasi, time seemed to stand still, marking a new chapter in the history of journalism. The historic Nagari Pracharini Sabha’s Aryabhasha Library campus hosted the grand launch of senior journalist Vijay Vineet’s much-anticipated book, ‘Journalism AI’. The book was unveiled by the Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha and renowned journalist, Shri Harivansh.

This event was more than just a book launch; it was a historic attempt to articulate thought, consciousness, and the soul of journalism in the language of the future. ‘Journalism AI’ focuses on the transitional phase of journalism where technology reigns supreme, yet the need for human sensitivity remains equally pertinent.

The evening commenced with the participation of journalists, writers, academicians, artists, and students from various parts of the country, including Varanasi, Delhi, and Lucknow. In his inaugural address, Shri Harivansh stated, “The future of journalism is undoubtedly linked to technological tools, but its soul lies in human sensitivity, ethics, and social responsibility. Vijay Vineet’s book is a guiding light for journalists of the future.” He further emphasized that journalism is not merely resistance against power, but the voice of society’s soul. He warned that as data and algorithms become journalistic tools, विवेकपूर्ण उपयोग (discerning use) is essential, a core message of the book.

The Prime Minister of the Sabha and poet-critic Vyomesh Shukla, in his profound address, remarked, “The soil of Nagari Pracharini Sabha is the sacred land from where Acharya Ramchandra Shukla gave a new direction to Hindi literature. Today, from the same platform, a new consciousness regarding the future of journalism is exploding. ‘Journalism AI’ is not just a book, but a creation that underscores human presence in the digital age.” He also reflected on the historical significance of the Sabha, its museum’s rare manuscripts, and the origins of Hindi words.

Following this, acclaimed litterateur Dr. Suman Keshari presented poignant excerpts from her famous plays, ‘Gandhari’ and ‘Hidimba’, offering a unique female perspective on history, which captivated the audience. The evening concluded with a classical musical performance by Pt. Sajan Mishra and Swaransh Mishra, accompanied by Abhishek Mishra on tabla and Pt. Dharamnath Mishra on harmonium, elevating the atmosphere to a spiritual and cultural zenith.

‘Journalism AI’ is likely the first comprehensive book in Hindi to explore the relationship between journalism and artificial intelligence. In it, author Vijay Vineet explains that journalists today are collaborators not just with pens or cameras, but also with data and machine learning. However, he stresses that in this transformative era, journalists must not abandon their foundational values. He writes, “Technology is an aid, but the soul of journalism will remain human.” The book is receiving positive feedback from journalists, media educators, and students nationwide.

Presiding over the event, Sabha President Anuradha Banerjee called ‘Journalism AI’ a significant milestone in the intellectual achievements of Hindi society. Senior critic Acharya Vivek Das, senior citizen K. N. Tripathi, and Prof. Sudhakar Singh also praised the book’s content and presentation.

Three significant books were launched concurrently at the event:

  • ‘Journalism AI’ – Vijay Vineet
  • ‘Kavita Kya Hai’ (What is Poetry) – Acharya Ramchandra Shukla
  • ‘Panch Parmeshwar aur Ishwariya Nyay’ (Panch Parmeshwar and Divine Justice) – Premchand

This triple book launch symbolized a literary-technical confluence. The evening of July 17, 2025, became one of those Varanasi evenings that transcend mere calendar dates, transforming into cultural memories. The launch of ‘Journalism AI’ is not just a bold attempt to translate the soul of journalism into the language of the future, but also continues Varanasi’s tradition of viewing the future through the lens of the past. The event became a grand confluence of literature, journalism, and consciousness, where the echoes of words, the intensity of ideas, and the soul of Varanasi came alive.
