New Delhi, 7th Aug: The Election Commission of India (EC) today announced the schedule for the Vice-Presidential Election 2025 through a notification published in the Gazette of India. The process officially begins with the notification issued today.
According to the schedule, the last date for filing nominations is August 21, 2025. The scrutiny of nomination papers will be conducted the next day, on August 22. Candidates will have until August 25 to withdraw their candidatures.
The Election Commission has set September 9, 2025, as the date for polling, should it be necessary. The polling will be held between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. on that day.
P.C. Mody, the Secretary-General of the Rajya Sabha, has been appointed as the Returning Officer for the election. He will receive nomination papers from candidates or their representatives at his office in Parliament House, New Delhi, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on working days.
Each candidate is required to deposit a sum of ₹15,000 and provide a certified copy of their entry in the electoral roll for their parliamentary constituency.
