New Delhi, 20th Dec: Vice-President of India, C. P. Radhakrishnan, on Friday hosted a Christmas Luncheon at the Vice-President’s Enclave, extending warm greetings of Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all.
Addressing the gathering, the Vice-President said Christmas conveys a timeless message of love, hope and charity, and urged citizens to carry the spirit of compassion and goodwill beyond the festive season into daily life.
He appreciated the invaluable contributions of the Christian community to nation-building, particularly in the areas of education, healthcare, and the upliftment of tribal and underprivileged communities. Emphasising inclusivity, he called upon the community to continue playing a constructive role in India’s progress.
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047, Shri Radhakrishnan said the goal could only be achieved through the collective efforts of all sections of society. He also underscored the importance of environmental responsibility and encouraged the adoption of Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) to combat climate change and meet sustainable development goals.
The luncheon was attended by several dignitaries, including West Bengal Governor Dr. C. V. Ananda Bose, Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha Shri Harivansh, Union Ministers of State Shri George Kurian and Shri Suresh Gopi, along with Cardinals, Archbishops, Bishops, Priests, Pastors, and senior representatives of church administrations from across the country.
