In a letter addressed to President Droupadi Murmu, Dhankhar stated, “To prioritise health care and abide by medical advice, I hereby resign as the Vice President of India, effective immediately, in accordance with Article 67(a) of the constitution.” Article 67(a) of the Indian Constitution stipulates that a Vice-President may resign his office by writing under his hand addressed to the President.
