Underlining economic nationalism as pivotal to India’s progress, the Vice-President urged trade and industry bodies to prioritize domestic production and consumption, cautioning against the adverse effects of excessive reliance on imports.
He emphasized the need to import only essential goods to safeguard India’s foreign exchange reserves, prevent job losses, and foster indigenous entrepreneurship.
Echoing the government’s ‘Vocal for Local’ initiative and the spirit of ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’, Dhankhar stressed the significance of supporting local businesses, particularly startups and MSMEs. He commended the transformative impact of the MSME sector, noting its role in driving growth in smaller cities and rural areas.
The Vice-President underscored the importance of affirmative governance and business-friendly policies in nurturing entrepreneurship and innovation. He called for greater support for entrepreneurs, advocating for mentorship and guidance to optimize their performance.
Dhankhar also cautioned against the export of raw materials without value addition, emphasizing the need to prioritize value-added production for sustainable economic development. He urged corporate leaders to invest in research and development within the country, emphasizing the vital role of industries in driving innovation.
Corporate leaders, including Sanjeev Agrawal, President of PHDCCI, and Hemant Jain, Sr. Vice President of PHDCCI, were present at the event, underscoring the importance of collaborative efforts between the government and industry stakeholders to realize India’s economic potential.
