Addressing students, faculty and alumni, the Vice-President described the milestone as a “remarkable achievement” attained by only a handful of institutions. He said the school’s century-long journey stands as a testament to shaping minds, nurturing character and building responsible citizens.

Call for Value-Based Education
Emphasising that the true strength of an institution lies in its values rather than infrastructure, the Vice-President said education must go beyond textbooks and cultivate critical thinking, empathy, resilience and integrity.

He urged students to dream big, remain humble and uphold moral principles while pursuing excellence. As India advances towards the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047, he said, today’s students will shape the country’s future through innovation and responsibility.

Mass Movement Against Drugs
The Vice-President made a strong appeal for a nationwide campaign against drug abuse, calling it one of the gravest threats to society. He urged students to say “No to Drugs” and stressed that the fight against narcotics must transcend religion, language and political affiliations.

He also observed that healthy competition among political parties to serve society is a positive sign for democracy.

Rooted in Values, Ready for Future
Highlighting Kerala’s strong educational legacy, the Vice-President said institutions like St. Stephen’s have significantly strengthened the state’s social development. He expressed hope that as the school enters its second century, it will adopt modern educational advancements while staying anchored in its cultural and ethical foundations.

He also paid floral tributes at the holy tomb of the Four Metropolitans at Mount Tabor Dayara during his visit.

The event was attended by Kerala Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, Union Minister of State Suresh Gopi, state ministers and other dignitaries.
