New Delhi, 16th Aug: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today paid tributes to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his death anniversary, or ‘punya tithi’, at the Sadaiv Atal memorial in New Delhi. The occasion was attended by several senior leaders, including President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister wrote, “Remembering Atal Ji on his Punya Tithi. His dedication and spirit of service towards the all-round progress of India continue to inspire everyone in building a developed and self-reliant India.”

Vajpayee, who passed away on August 16, 2018, was a charismatic leader known for his statesmanship and oratory. As the three-time Prime Minister of India, he is credited with pioneering major economic reforms and infrastructure projects, including the Golden Quadrilateral. His tenure was marked by significant events such as the Pokhran-II nuclear tests in 1998 and the Kargil War in 1999.

Leaders from across the political spectrum also paid homage to the former Prime Minister, remembering his contributions to Indian politics and his vision for the nation.
