Vadodara Boat Capsize Incident: PM Modi Announces Rs 2 Lakh Ex-Gratia for Families of Deceased

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday condoled the loss of lives in a boat capsizing incident at Harni Lake in Vadodara.

He announced that Rs 2 lakh will be provided to the next of kin of the deceased as ex-gratia.

PM Modi also wished for the quick recovery of the injured and assured that the local administration is providing necessary assistance.

“Distressed by the loss of lives due to a boat capsizing at the Harni lake in Vadodara. My thoughts are with the bereaved families in this hour of grief. May the injured recover soon. The local administration is providing all possible assistance to those affected,” PM Modi posted on X.

12 school children and two teachers were killed after a boat carrying children capsized in Vadodara’s Harni Motnath Lake on Thursday.

“An ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000,” he added.

As many as 10 children were rescued from the capsized boat.

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel visited the site and announced a compensation of Rs 4 lakh for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured.

CM Bhupendra Patel expressed his condolences for the tragedy.

Gujarat Minister Rushikesh Patel said that more than 10 people have been rescued so far.
