Dehradun, 5th Dec. Congress’ Uttarakhand president Karan Mahara was involved in a clash with journalists at a cricket match organized by the Uttaranchal Press Club on Wednesday. The incident took place at the Police Lines, where Mahara, accompanied by Congress workers, allegedly entered the stadium, shouted slogans, and engaged in a scuffle with journalists.
Uttaranchal Press Club president Ajay Rana claimed that he repeatedly requested Mahara to refrain from disrupting the match, but his appeals were ignored. According to Rana, the situation escalated into a physical altercation between Mahara and the journalists.
The police intervened and escorted Mahara and the Congress workers out of the stadium, Rana added. In response, the press club called an emergency meeting scheduled for Thursday to decide on its future course of action, making attendance mandatory for all members.
When contacted, Mahara attributed the incident to a misunderstanding, suggesting that tensions had led to the scuffle.
