Srinagar, 31st July: The Union Territory Level-1 Kabaddi Referee Course in Srinagar reached its third day at Bakshi Stadium, signifying a dedicated effort to enhance officiating standards across Jammu and Kashmir. The intensive program is being conducted under the expert supervision of Dr. Kuldeep Kumar Gupta, General Secretary of the Jammu and Kashmir Amateur Kabaddi Association and Technical Director of the Asian Kabaddi Federation.
Ms. Nuzhat Gull, Secretary of the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, is actively monitoring the course’s progress, highlighting the collaborative commitment to sports development in the region. Both morning and evening sessions are proceeding smoothly, with morning dedicated to theoretical knowledge and evening focusing on practical training, all executed with significant enthusiasm and discipline.
Veteran Kabaddi officials, including Rana Ranjeet Singh, an International Kabaddi Referee from Bihar, and Dhanashree, an AKFI Technical Referee from Maharashtra, are imparting their extensive technical experience to the trainees. Their sessions are designed to be both informative and interactive, incorporating real-time examples and demonstrations. Their national and international reputation for expertise, punctuality, and dedication makes them ideal mentors for this crucial Level-1 referee/umpire course.
A total of 90 officials from various districts across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir are actively participating, benefiting from the specialized training. The course’s primary objective is to deepen participants’ understanding of Kabaddi’s technical intricacies and prepare them to officiate effectively in a wide range of tournaments, including those organized by the Youth Services and Sports Department, All India Inter-Zonal events, Police Meets, Inter-University, inter-College, and other prestigious competitions.
Dr. Kuldeep Kumar Gupta is being lauded as the driving force behind this initiative, recognized for his relentless efforts in promoting Kabaddi within Jammu & Kashmir and internationally, all under the guidance of Anil Gupta, President of the Jammu and Kashmir Amateur Kabaddi Association. He is often described as a “one-man army” for his pivotal role in elevating both the game’s status and its officiating standards.
The long list of beneficiaries includes officials from across the UT, such as Arshid Rather, Firdous Rather, Umer Ahmad Dar, and many more, reflecting widespread participation. Additionally, District Secretaries Mr. Mohd Yakoob (Kathua), Mr. Sanjeet Kumar (Jammu), and Mr. Gulzar Ahmed (Srinagar) are present, closely observing the proceedings and contributing to the program’s smooth and successful execution.
