WASHINGTON – Israel and the US on Saturday launched joint military strikes against Iran, targeted top leadership, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s office, and key military sites, according to the official sources and media reports.
Iran attacked American military bases in UAE, Qatar, Bahrain and several other countries in the Middle East in retaliation to US and Israeli airstrikes against Iran.
US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu indicated the strikes were aimed at regime change.
In a video message, Trump promised immunity to Iranian forces but warned of “certain death” if they didn’t lay down their weapons.
The attack follows a large US military buildup in the Middle East against the backdrop of tensions between Washington and Tehran over nuclear deal talks.
Israeli-US strike reportedly hit a primary school building in Iran.
According to local media reports, the building was hit 11:30 am local time, killed over 50 students.
Iran targeted US military bases in the Middle East, sparked fears of a wider regional conflict.
Tehran also launched missiles towards Israel, but most were reportedly intercepted, caused little damage.
