Lucknow, 12th Aug: A sharp political feud has erupted on social media between Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya and Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Shivpal Singh Yadav, reflecting the growing tensions in the state. The exchange began when Maurya took to his official social media handle to attack SP chief Akhilesh Yadav.

“Goondas, mafias, and rioters – all of them are brothers of the ‘Saifai family’,” Maurya wrote, referring to the ancestral village of the Yadav family.

Shivpal Yadav was quick to retaliate, posting his own message on social media. “Keshav ji, who are the goondas, mafias and rioters, the people of UP know very well,” he wrote. He then went on to list the BJP’s actions, including “strangling the law with bulldozers,” “lathi-charging farmers,” and being “patrons of unemployment and corruption.” In contrast, he said the Saifai family gave the state “hospitals, stadiums, jobs, and universities,” while Maurya’s “family” has only given “hatred, inflation, and jungle raj.”

The social media clash coincided with a stormy start to the UP Assembly’s monsoon session. On Monday, SP members disrupted proceedings and chanted anti-government slogans after alleging that Leader of the Opposition Akhilesh Yadav had been mistreated in Gorakhpur. In response to the Assembly protests, Maurya stated that the government was prepared to answer any questions the Opposition had, but it could not force them to participate in a discussion.
