Ayodhya, UP, 11th Feb. Akhilesh Yadav, the Chief of the Samajwadi Party, once again turned down the invitation, but the majority of the members of the Uttar Pradesh State Legislature went to Ayodhya on Sunday, January 11, to pay their respects to Ram Lalla at the recently opened Ram temple.

“All of the lawmakers had the chance to ask Lord Ram for blessings today in Ayodhya.

“After the visit, Keshav Prasad Maurya, the deputy chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, said, “May he shower his blessings and by 2047 we become Viksit Bharat.” Speaker of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly Satish Mahana and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath invited members of both Houses of the legislature to pray before Ram Lalla in Ayodhya on Saturday.

Akhilesh Yadav Turns Down Invite

Yadav was told to accompany him to Ayodhya tomorrow by the speaker of the House during a budget discussion on Saturday. In response, the assembly’s leader of opposition declared, “We will go only when Lord Shri Ram calls us.” The opposition leaders had also chosen not to attend the “Pran Pratishtha” ceremony at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, which the chief of the SP had also skipped earlier. This time, though, the majority of lawmakers—aside from Yadav—have consented to travel to Ayodhya.

Regarding the Samajwadi Party chief’s decision to forego the visit, Mahana stated, “It is a matter of faith; you cannot force anyone to go there.”

Leaders of a number of parties, including the Indian National Congress, Bahujan Samaj Party, Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party, Rashtriya Lok Dal, BJP, Apna Dal Sonelal, Nishad Party, and Jansatta Dal Loktantrik, have accepted the invitation and will be attending the visit despite Yadav’s rejection. There are currently 100 members of the Legislative Council and 400 MLAs in the state assembly. The precise number of members traveling to Ayodhya was not made clear.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has 252 members in the assembly; Apna Dal (Sonelal), its ally, has 13; Nishad has six; and Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP), has six. SBSP and Nishad are members of the National Democratic Alliance, which is in power. The state’s main opposition party Samajwadi Party has 108 MLAs, Rashtriya Lok Dal has nine, Indian National Congress has two, Jansatta Dal Loktantrik has two and Bahujan Samaj Party has one MLA.

Rajpal Singh Balyan, leader of the RLD legislative party in the assembly, told PTI on Friday: “Most of the RLD MLAs will go to Ayodhya on February 11 for ‘darshan’ of Lord Ram in the newly constructed temple.”

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) legislature party leader Umashankar Singh also said the party has accepted the invitation. “We will go to Ayodhya! This is the invitation of the Assembly Speaker and he does not belong to any party but everyone has unanimously elected him,” he said.

“Lord Ram is our idol, but due to a pre-decided programme in our area on Sunday, I will not be able to go. Our legislature party leader Aradhana Mishra ‘Mona’ will go to Ayodhya,” said Virendra Chaudhary, a Congress MLA from Farenda in the Maharajganj district. Raghuraj Pratap Singh, the leader of Jansatta Dal Loktantrik, also accepted the invitation to travel to Ayodhya.

Legislators Travel in Exotic Buses to Ayodhya

Every legislator took a bus on Sunday morning to Ayodhya. At 11:30 am, ten opulent buses filled with members of the legislature and cabinet ministers arrived in Ayodhya. Dayashankar Singh, the Minister of State for Transport (Independent Charge), was scheduled to visit. Sunday at noon saw CM Adityanath arrive straight at the Ayodhya airport. Following this, he went to Hanumangarhi and the Ram temple with other legislators to receive darshan.
