UP Police Gets Major IPS Reshuffle Across Key Posts

State government transfers senior officers, reshapes command in zones, ranges and districts

  • New postings in key districts including Meerut, Gorakhpur and Saharanpur
  • Several SSP and SP-level appointments reshuffled

Lucknow, 5th Feb: In a major administrative reshuffle, the Uttar Pradesh government has transferred more than 20 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, bringing changes across key zones, ranges, commissionerates and district posts.

Key senior-level transfers

Senior IPS officer Sujit Pandey (1994 batch) has been shifted from Police Director General/Additional Director General, Lucknow Zone, to Director General of Fire and Emergency Services, Uttar Pradesh.

Praveen Kumar (2001 batch), who was serving as Additional Director General/Inspector General of Police, Ayodhya Range, has been posted as Additional Director General, Lucknow Zone.

K. S. Emmanuel (2003 batch) has been moved from Inspector General, Economic Offences Wing, to IG and GSO at the Uttar Pradesh Police Headquarters.

Vinod Kumar Singh (2007 batch), earlier Joint Commissioner of Police, Kanpur Commissionerate, has been posted as Inspector General at Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Police Academy, Moradabad.

Commissionerate and range-level changes

Alok Priyadarshi (2011 batch) has been transferred from Additional Commissioner, Ghaziabad Commissionerate, to the same post in Varanasi Commissionerate.

Raj Karan Nayyar (2012 batch), earlier DIG/SSP Gorakhpur, has been posted as Additional Commissioner of Police, Ghaziabad.

Somen Burma (2012 batch) has been moved from Mirzapur as DIG/SP to DIG, Ayodhya Range.

Sankalp Sharma (2012 batch) and Vipin Tada (2012 batch) have been posted as Joint Commissioners of Police in Kanpur Commissionerate.

District-level reshuffle

Several district police chiefs have also been transferred:

  • Kaustubh (2015 batch) appointed SSP Gorakhpur
  • Avinash Pandey (2015 batch) posted as SSP Meerut
  • Charu Nigam (2014 batch) appointed SP Sultanpur
  • Abhinandan (2014 batch) posted as SSP Saharanpur
  • Ravi Kumar (2015 batch) made SP Raebareli
  • Sukirti Madhav (2015 batch) appointed SP Pilibhit
  • Saravanan T (2019 batch) posted as SP Amethi

The reshuffle also includes multiple postings at PAC battalions, intelligence units and police headquarters.

Officials said the transfers are part of routine administrative adjustments aimed at strengthening law and order, improving field-level coordination and enhancing operational efficiency across the state police system.
