Lucknow, 6th Feb. The Uttar Pradesh government on Monday presented its annual Budget for the fiscal year 2024-25, marking a significant milestone as the largest budget in the state’s history.
Presented by the state’s finance minister, Suresh Khanna, the budget amounts to a total of Rs 736,438 crore.
Additionally, the budget includes new schemes worth 24,863.57 crore, with a paramount focus on initiatives benefiting women, youth, farmers, and employment generation.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the budget includes revenue receipts of Rs 60,6802.40 lakh and capital receipts of Rs 114,531.42 lakh.
Furthermore, the budget allocates Rs 488,902.84 lakh from tax revenue, comprising Rs 270,086 crore from state taxes and Rs 218,816.84 crore from the state’s share in central taxes.
For the current fiscal year, the budget outlines expenditure of Rs 5 lakh 32 thousand 655 crore 33 lakh on the revenue account and Rs 2 lakh 3 thousand 782 crore 38 lakh on the capital account. Moreover, the estimated fiscal deficit stands at Rs 86,530.51 crore, equivalent to 3.46% of the gross state domestic product for the year.
Finance Minister Khanna expressed confidence that the 2024-25 budget would usher in prosperity and accelerate development towards achieving a 1 trillion-dollar economy.
Chief Minister Adityanath emphasized the significant reforms undertaken, which have transformed Uttar Pradesh into a revenue-surplus state.
He also highlighted the budget’s focus on empowering women, calling it the ‘Pink Budget’ with a particular emphasis on ‘Matri Shakti’ and women-related schemes.
