Lucknow, 25th March: The Uttar Pradesh government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced an additional public holiday on March 27, extending the Ram Navami festive break to two consecutive days.

March 26 had already been declared a holiday for Ram Navami. The decision to add another day comes amid a sharp rise in the number of devotees visiting temples across the state during the festival period.

Officials said the move aims to ease crowd management and ensure convenience for worshippers. The Chief Minister approved the extension, reiterating the government’s commitment to facilitating smooth and safe celebrations.

In a related development, the High Court has revised its holiday schedule. Courts, which were earlier set to remain closed on March 26, will now function on that day and observe a holiday on March 27 instead.

Security arrangements have been intensified across major धार्मिक centres, including Ayodhya, Varanasi, and Mathura, where large gatherings are expected.

Authorities have issued detailed instructions to police and administrative officials to ensure effective crowd control, maintain law and order, and prevent any untoward incidents. Preparations at temples are also underway, focusing on cleanliness, decorations, enhanced security, and improved facilities for devotees.

With celebrations approaching, a festive atmosphere has already begun to build across key religious cities in the state.
