Lucknow, 14th July. The Uttar Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party began its State Working Committee meeting on Sunday at the Ambedkar Auditorium of Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Law University in Lucknow, the first meeting since the party’s poor performance in the 2024 Lok Sabha, when it won fewer seats than expected in the general election.
The gathering is a large one-day event in which the BJP’s National President, JP Nadda, is anticipated to attend and participate. Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Deputy Chief Ministers Brajesh Pathak and KP Maurya, as well as other ministers and workers, have already arrived at the venue and begun the meeting.
During the working committee meeting, Uttar Pradesh Minister AK Sharma stated, “Our national president, JP Nadda, is visiting our state. I warmly greet him on behalf of the people of the state. I hope that after this working committee meeting, our employees, the organization’s office bearers, will get new energy and direction.
The meeting’s main agenda item will be the passage of political recommendations submitted by the working committee, as well as tributes to party workers and officials who have died while working for the party.
Uttar Pradesh Minister Anil Rajbhar says, “Whenever the state working committee meets, discussions are held on political, economic, social proposals and social issues. Naturally, discussions will take place in this meeting as well.”
The political proposal will include discussions about the approaching by-elections for 10 seats, an assessment of the Lok Sabha elections, and the next steps after the election failure.
All necessary preparations have been done, and a significant number of police officers have been deployed to protect the BJP’s National President, JP Nadda.
Nadda will attend the meeting, which is anticipated to begin at 11:00 a.m. and last until 5:00 p.m. The gathering will be opened by state president Bhupendra Chaudhary and will conclude with a speech by National President JP Nadda. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will speak to the committee before JP Nadda. The working committee meeting will be broken into two segments.
UP Cabinet Minister Dinesh Pratap Singh said, “Today, our national president is coming here, thus I believe the workers will be energized, and this is what democracy is about. There is internal democracy in our party; if the party leadership wishes to make any changes, it solicits proposals from the workers. So today is a crucial day for us because we will receive their direction and the Bharatiya Janata Party will work hard on the ground. The meeting of the working committee is being held with the goal of strengthening the organization; suggestions from everyone are being received, and additional work is being done based on the suggestions.”
The Mandal Presidents, who number over 1,900 across the state, will have the largest representation on the working committee. Mandal Presidents will be joined by all District Presidents, Regional Presidents, District Incharges, office bearers from all fronts, party General Secretaries, and ministers.
Notably, in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP won only 33 seats out of 80, while the Samajwadi Party won 37, a disappointing performance for the BJP, which won 61 seats in the 2019 general elections.
