UNSG, Modi holds productive talks at G20 Summit

WASHINGTON – Prime Minister Narendra Modi Saturday had a productive conversation with UN Secretary-General António Guterres on the sidelines of the G20 Johannesburg Summit, according to a statement issued by the PMO office .

The discussion covered various global issues and cooperation between India and the UN.

PM Modi said in a post on X “A very productive conversation with the Secretary General of the United Nations, Mr. António Guterres on the sidelines of the G20 Johannesburg Summit”.

The meeting came as PM Modi is attending the G20 Summit, where he is expected to discuss key issues concerning India and the Global South.

He has emphasized India’s vision of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” (One Earth, One Family, One Future) and is pushing for reforms in global institutions to make them more inclusive and representative.

Guterres has been vocal about the need for global cooperation to address pressing issues like climate change, poverty, and inequality.

The meeting focused on strengthening India’s partnership with the UN in achieving these goals.

The G20 Summit, themed “Solidarity, Equality and Sustainability,” aims to promote cooperation and address global challenges.

PM Modi’s participation is seen as crucial, given India’s growing global influence and its role in shaping international agendas.
