New Delhi, 7th Oct: The faculty and course members of the 65th National Defence College (NDC) Course called on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday. Addressing the gathering, the President underscored that national interests and objectives form the foundation of any nation’s security framework, but universal values remain at the heart of India’s strategic outlook.
President Murmu said India’s civilisational ethos has always viewed humanity as one family, with universal brotherhood and peace as guiding principles. “While peace and harmony are our articles of faith, we have always recognized the importance of being battle-ready to defeat forces that threaten humanity and our nation,” she remarked.
Referring to the recently concluded Operation Sindoor, the President lauded the Armed Forces for demonstrating “jointness and strategic foresight.” She said the calibrated tri-service response underlined effective synergy, which played a pivotal role in dismantling terror infrastructure across the Line of Control and beyond.
The President further highlighted ongoing reforms in India’s defence structure, beginning with the creation of the Department of Military Affairs under the Chief of Defence Staff. She noted that efforts are underway to establish Integrated Theatre Commands and Integrated Battle Groups to enhance operational efficiency and inter-service coordination.
Emphasizing the need for adaptability, President Murmu stated that the evolving geopolitical and security landscape demands dynamic and innovative responses. She expressed satisfaction that India is transforming its Armed Forces into a technologically advanced, combat-ready force capable of executing multi-domain integrated operations.
Commending the National Defence College for conducting the prestigious international programme, the President said the course has become a “benchmark learning platform” that fosters understanding, cooperation, and strategic linkages across national and international domains related to security.
