Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh Honored at APICON 2024 Conference

Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology, Personnel, Public grievances, and more, was the Chief Guest at the 35th Convocation ceremony of the Indian College of Physicians and the 79th Annual Conference of the Association of Physicians in India (APICON 2024) in New Delhi.

In recognition of his lifelong dedication to Medicine academics and research, Dr. Singh was awarded an honorary Fellowship of the Indian College of Physicians. Addressing the gathering, he expressed gratitude for the opportunity to reconnect with his medical fraternity, citing APICON as a cherished occasion amidst his busy schedule.

Dr. Singh praised India’s strides in preventive healthcare under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, highlighting achievements like the indigenous DNA-based vaccine and the world’s largest COVID vaccination drive. He emphasized the transformative potential of technology, advocating for the integration of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning tools in healthcare.

The Minister affirmed the government’s commitment to affordable healthcare for all, citing initiatives such as vaccinating adolescent girls against HPV and efforts to combat communicable and non-communicable diseases. He lauded PM Modi’s support for Digital Healthcare and highlighted the progress of the National Digital Health Mission.

Reflecting on India’s technological prowess, Dr. Singh mentioned Chandrayaan-3’s milestone achievement and underscored the enduring legacy of the Association of Physicians in India. He reminisced about his contributions to the API textbook and expressed optimism for the future of healthcare in India.
