New Delhi, 14th April.
In response to Iran’s attack on Israel, President of the United Nations General Assembly Dennis Francis expressed grave worries on Sunday, saying that this vicious cycle of attack and counterattack will ultimately result in more pain, death, and sorrow rather than anything positive.

According to a news statement issued by Pope Francis, “I am deeply concerned about the unfolding situation in the Middle East, involving the launch by Iran of drones and missiles against Israel.”

“The Iranians have explained their action in the context of Article 51 of the UN Charter, following the recent Israeli attack on the Iranian Embassy in Damascus,” stated the announcement.

The Middle East’s already precarious and delicate peace and security situation is made worse by Iran’s reaction.

“I strongly call upon all parties to exercise the utmost restraint to avoid further escalation of tension in the region,” the president of the UNGA continued. Now is the time to exercise sensible and prudent judgment, carefully weighing the dangers and extended risks.”

“I expect that the Iranian authorities will honour their word that by their action today, the matter can be deemed concluded,” he stated.

After Iran attacked Israel with hundreds of drones and missiles in retaliation, Dennis Francis declared, “A vicious cycle of attack and counter-attack will lead to nowhere, but inevitably, to more death, suffering, and misery.”

The UNGA President underlined, “Dialogue and diplomacy represent the only path to peacefully resolve differences.”

After an attack on its consulate in Syria, Iran publicly attacked Israel on Saturday, claiming that the “matter can be deemed concluded” and launching an offensive with more than 200 projectiles, including drones, ballistic missiles, and cruise missiles.

After meeting with the Security Cabinet and the War Cabinet, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had a meeting with US President Joe Biden subsequent to the incident.

But Iran sent a strong message to Israel’s closest friend, asking the US to avoid becoming involved in the current dispute with Israel and threatening to take more drastic measures if Israel committed “another mistake.”

Iran’s military operation was a response to the aggression of the Zionist regime against our diplomatic installations in Damascus, and it was carried out in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter regarding legitimate defense. Iran’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York stated on X that “the matter can be deemed concluded.”

“Iran will, however, react far more harshly if the Israeli administration makes another error. The U.S. MUST LEAVE THIS FIGHT, which is between Iran and the criminal Israeli dictatorship, it continued.

According to a defense officer who spoke to the media on Sunday, US forces have started shooting down Iranian drones that are headed towards Israel.
