New Delhi, 13th Nov:
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has introduced a new Aadhaar mobile application for both iOS and Android platforms, offering residents a seamless and secure way to manage their identity.

Currently in the testing phase, the app is available for download on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, allowing users to try it out and share feedback before the final release.“This app reimagines how residents engage with their identity, placing control, portability, and privacy directly in their hands,” UIDAI said. The authority added that early adopters can report issues or share feedback via feedback.app@uidai.net.in.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), UIDAI encouraged users to explore the app’s paperless verification feature. The digital Aadhaar not only simplifies authentication but also serves as valid identity proof for various purposes such as bank accounts, passports, driving licenses, and educational admissions.

Key Features of the New Aadhaar App:

  • Digital Aadhaar sharing via QR code or verifiable credentials without disclosing the full 12-digit number.
  • Option to set up to five Aadhaar profiles on one device using the same registered mobile number—beneficial for families and parents.
  • Advanced biometric locking and unlocking system that safeguards data from unauthorized use.

How to Use the New Aadhaar App:

  1. Download the app from Play Store or App Store.
  2. Select preferred language and enter the 12-digit Aadhaar number.
  3. Verify via OTP sent to the registered mobile number.
  4. Authenticate using biometric or face scan.
  5. Add Aadhaar profile and set a six-digit PIN for protection.

Once set up, users can view Aadhaar details, generate QR codes, share verifiable credentials, and control biometric access — making the new app a major step toward digital empowerment and secure identity management in India.
