New Delhi, 6th August. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has asked all universities and colleges to observe Partition Horrors Remembrance Day on August 14.

They have been asked to arrange programmes and seminars to commemorate the sufferings and sacrifices of millions of Indians during the partition in 1947.

Prof M Jagadesh Kumar, chairman of the UGC, stated that it is important to encourage students, staff, and faculty members to participate in large numbers in the commemoration of ‘Partition Horrors Remembrance Day.’

Prime Minister Modi announced last year that August 14 would be observed as Partition Horrors Remembrance Day in memory of people’s struggles and sacrifices, stating that the pain of partition could never be forgotten.
