Patna, 14th Oct: In a dramatic late-night development in Bihar, several Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leaders who had been handed party symbols for the Assembly polls were unexpectedly asked to return them. The move has stirred confusion and speculation across political circles.

Party patriarch Lalu Prasad Yadav, returning from Delhi yesterday, was greeted by a crowd of aspirants outside his residence. Some of them, reportedly called by party leadership, collected yellow envelopes endorsing their candidature. Hours later, Mahagathbandhan’s Chief Ministerial face Tejashwi Yadav arrived at his Patna residence, after which the leaders received calls instructing them to return the symbols.

Visuals from the late-night scene show large crowds outside Lalu Yadav’s home. Leaders, including Sunil Singh, who recently quit JD(U), and former MLA Narendra Kumar Singh alias Bogo, were among those affected. Some leaders, like Ashraf Fatmi, claimed that no actual symbols were handed over and that circulating images were “AI-generated.”

The episode comes as Mahagathbandhan parties, including Congress, Left parties, Vikassheel Insaan Party, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, and RLJP, are still negotiating seat-sharing arrangements. Bihar’s first phase of polling is set for November 6 and November 11, with nomination deadlines on October 17 and October 20 respectively. Results will be declared on November 14.
