Amritsar, 18th July: Security agencies have achieved a major breakthrough in the case concerning bomb threats directed at the Golden Temple in Amritsar. Two individuals have been arrested in Tamil Nadu in connection with sending threatening emails to the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC).
Since July 14, the SGPC has received five threatening emails, explicitly stating intentions to blow up the revered Golden Temple with RDX. These threats immediately put security agencies in Amritsar on high alert, leading to stringent security measures and extensive search operations within and around the temple premises.
Investigation teams had been active in Tamil Nadu for the past two days, which culminated in the detention of two suspects. Their identities have not yet been publicly disclosed by the police. Officials indicate that crucial clues have emerged during initial questioning. Agencies are now working to ascertain whether this was an isolated cyber-attack or if a more organized network or radical conspiracy is behind the threats.
