Thane, 24th Jan. On the day of the consecration of Lord Ram’s idol in the Ayodhya temple, a group of individuals allegedly attacked a procession in Thane district, Maharashtra. Two people have been arrested by the police in connection with the incident, according to an official statement on Wednesday.
The attack occurred around 8:30 pm on Monday in Borivali village of Padgha area. The victims, who were on motorcycles and on foot, were part of the procession. Two to three individuals were injured in the incident. The attackers, armed with iron rods, wooden sticks, and sharp objects, intercepted the procession and assaulted them. They also damaged a couple of motorcycles.
One of the victims filed a police complaint stating that the attackers pulled out a saffron flag with the image of Lord Ram from a motorcycle and tore it. The police have registered a case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and have arrested two of the accused. The search for the remaining individuals involved in the incident is ongoing.
The injured victims have been admitted to a hospital for treatment. This incident follows clashes between members of two communities during a vehicle rally in Naya Nagar, Thane district, and a stone attack on a procession in Mira Road area, Thane district, during the Ram temple idol consecration in Ayodhya.
