Rohtak, 14th Oct: In a fresh twist to the investigation into IPS officer Y Puran Kumar’s death, Assistant Sub-Inspector Sandeep Kumar—who was probing a corruption case against him—died by suicide on Monday in Rohtak.

The ASI allegedly shot himself with his service revolver in a field, leaving behind a video message and a three-page suicide note. “I am sacrificing my life for truth,” he stated.

Kumar alleged that Y Puran Kumar, who earlier died by suicide, was a “corrupt cop” and tried to misuse caste discrimination to divert attention from bribery allegations. He also accused him of replacing honest officers with corrupt ones and claimed women personnel were sexually exploited in exchange for transfers.

“Their assets must be probed. This is not a caste issue. Truth must come out,” Kumar wrote.

He praised Rohtak police chief Narendra Bijarnia, one of the 10 officers named by Y Puran Kumar in his note, calling him an honest officer. Bijarnia has since been transferred.

Authorities are examining the ASI’s video and note for further investigation.
